 Newsletter, Receptions and More... (updated August 7, 2008) Hot, hot, hot! We're talking about the weather and the magnificent art arriving from Ford's studio these days. We've had a whole month at home in Atlanta, and Ford's been able to focus solely on creating new paintings. This concentration of energy has fostered an environment for him to revisit themes that resonate with new elements and exude energy, life and drama. Be sure to see "Dare to Dream" under new paintings. From the powerful, dreamy night sky to the fractured Byzantine reflections of a primary palette, it is a shining example of Ford's recent imaginative impulses. From Ford's best recent original paintings, our new collection of limited edition giclees have arrived with unsurpassed excitement and splendor. They are distinctly different from one another, yet all quintessentially Ford Smith. Several of our newest collectors have more than one from this sensational collection of paintings. We still have a few Artist Proofs available (ultra hand embellished by Ford) so call to see if your newest acquisition could also be an Artist Proof. With the economy doing strange things right now, many galleries are in need of artwork that is truly inspirational to a far-reaching audience ...and this is it. When people view a Ford Smith painting, there is a visceral and positive reaction rare for many galleries. Despite politics, recessions, or what's happening in the outside world, people want to surround themselves indoors with beauty, peace and stimulation. Often they find this in their own Ford Smith painting. Our gallery partners have enjoyed introducing these new paintings to their own audiences, and as always, we appreciate your enthusiasm and support as Ford continues his artistic growth. We've had several fabulous receptions recently, beginning in Cashiers, North Carolina at the Richard James Gallery, and in our own galleries in Santa Fe and Atlanta. Thank you to everyone who attended and we welcome our new collectors and our valued clients who recently added to their collections of Ford Smith. It was a show trio of unprecedented proportions in every way. Our last event was the ribald and spectacular Summer Rejuvenation in the Ford Smith Gallery in Roswell pictured above. The evening was one to remember with live music from Paul Neitzel, the absolutely delicious homemade red and white sangria (thanks, Lauren!), old and new friends and collectors mingling, and Ford in full "Fordness" discussing his latest paintings in lively detail. There are few artists who are more fun at a party, and if you've never attended a Ford Smith reception, you are missing a wonderful and memorable show! Also at this event, we introduced Sarah Justice, our vivacious, art-savvy, new gallery director. She comes to us with a wealth of artistic knowledge, gallery experience and an engaging, intelligent gallery presence. Visit the gallery and say "hello" sometime soon ...you'll enjoy meeting her! Locally, we've been involved with several charities recently, beginning with the Children's Restoration Network's live auction at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead. It was a glittering affair with over 450 guests, a live band, out-of-this-world cuisine from the Ritz, star-studded memorabilia, concerts, vacations and fine jewelry and art. Ford Smith Fine Art donated a framed, embellished "Hidden Meaning". We were thrilled that this was the top "earner" for the event, with a $5000 donation to this worthy cause. We also donated "Summer Jewels" to the Chattahootchee Nature Center here in Roswell, GA's charity event live auction to benefit their new rebuild of the facility that dedicates itself to preserving wildlife and our own Chattahootchee river of Roswell. Once again, Ford's donation was the highest bid for the night with $4500 donated to the organization. What a fabulous event it was, too! We had the good fortune to visit with some of our own collectors who were there, as well as introduce a new audience to the natural beauty of a Ford Smith painting. Soon you'll be viewing this information on our new website which is in production right now. Naturally, we're thrilled, as you know the new site will be spectacular, easier to navigate, view, provide relevant information and much more. Plus, we'll have a special portal for our gallery partners, and separate areas for each of the Ford Smith Galleries in Atlanta and Santa Fe. We've added a week-long Canadian tour at the end of October, so Ford will be flying from city to city visiting with our Canadian friends and collectors. The actual schedule is being finalized as we speak, so stay tuned! Be sure to read below for our upcoming shows and receptions, and if you can, be there!
