MCDBA Training Kit










Core Exams
Three Required

MCDBA candidates are required to pass one SQL Server administration exam and one SQL Server design exam.

In addition, MCDBA candidates have the option to pass either one Windows 2000 or one .NET Enterprise Servers exam to fulfill the networking systems core requirement.

70-215: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

Or

70-275: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft .NET Enterprise Server (Available in 2002.)

* Alternative to 70-215: Candidates who have passed Windows NT 4.0 Exams 70-067, 70-068, and 70-073 have the option to take exam 70-240 instead of Exam 70-215.

70-240: Microsoft Windows 2000 Accelerated Exam for MCPs Certified on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (This exam is no longer available)

Candidates who passed accelerated Exam 70-240 receive credit for it as both a core exam and an elective exam in the MCDBA track.

Generally, an exam that can be used as either a core or an elective counts only once toward a certification. Exam 70-240 in the MCDBA track is an exception.

Candidates must have passed both of the following Windows NT 4.0 exams to fulfill the networking system exam requirement:

70-216: Implementing and Administering a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure

Or

70-276: Implementing and Administering a Microsoft Windows .NET Server Network Infrastructure (Available in 2002.)











MCDBA on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Certification Requirements

Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) on Microsoft SQL ServerTM 2000 candidates need to pass:

Three Core Exams and One Elective Exam that provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in the implementation and administration of SQL Server databases.

Microsoft is integrating Microsoft Windows® XP Professional and Microsoft .NET Enterprise Servers exams into the MCDBA on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 certification.

Individuals should continue to pursue training and certification in Windows 2000, as skills acquired for Windows 2000 will be highly relevant to and provide a critical foundation for Windows XP Professional and .NET Enterprise Servers.

MCDBAs on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 will not be required to pass Windows XP Professional/.NET Enterprise Servers exams to retain MCDBA certification.

The Windows 2000 exams and the Windows XP/.NET Enterprise Servers exams for the MCDBA on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 certification are expected to remain available concurrently.

The MCDBA on SQL Server 2000 Certification Is Appropriate For

By earning the premier MCDBA on SQL Server 2000 credential, individuals are demonstrating that they have the skills necessary to lead organizations in the successful design, implementation, and administration of SQL Server databases.

MCDBA on SQL Server 2000 candidates should have at least one year of experience working with SQL Server.

The Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 credential is the premier certification for professionals who implement and administer Microsoft SQL ServerTM databases.

The certification is appropriate for individuals who derive physical database designs, develop logical data models, create physical databases, create data services by using Transact-SQL, manage and maintain databases, configure and manage security, monitor and optimize databases, and install and configure SQL Server.
