DEPARTMENT HISTORY
The Pewaukee Park and Recreation Department was established on January 1, 1997 by the Pewaukee Town Board (now City) and the Pewaukee Village Board. The Department is responsible for providing the two communities residents with recreational opportunities, activities and programs in the parks and the maintenance of the City and Village parks.

To oversee the operation of the Joint Park and Recreation Department, a Joint Park and Recreation Board was created. The Joint Board is comprised of three City citizens and a Common Council Alderman and two Village citizens and a Village Trustee, these individuals are appointed by the City mayor and Village President. These seven members vote on issues regarding the Department. The communities Administrators may also attend meetings. Meetings are held once monthly on Wednesdays in the City Hall.

The Pewaukee Park and Recreation Department is operated by a 3/4 time Director, a 3/4 time Recreation Supervisor and a full time Park Maintenance Supervisor. The Department staffs one full time maintenance employee. The Department completes its staff with part time, seasonal employees for programming and maintenance. There are presently, nine maintenance employees and approximately 80 seasonal part time recreational employees and five contracted employees.

The Pewaukee Park and Recreation Department Director’s office is presently housed in City Hall. The Supervisors operate at Wagner Park. All part time employees work at the respective programming sites.
