1) Always use safety plug covers over your electric sockets.

2) Put up gates for staircases to avoid falls.

3) When buying toys take how safe they are into consideration.

4) Avoid adults smoking around your child as second hand smoke is damaging, especially long term.

5) Keep cleaners and other harmful substances locked in cabinet or out of reach of your children.

6) Never leave your baby in a walker unattended.

7) Never leave windows open where toddlers may climb up and fall out.

8) Some experts feel bumpers around the inside of the crib may be harmful to infants. It may be a contributing factor to "sudden crib death" especially with infants with upper respiratory problems.

9) Always use a baby's safety seat in the car. Holding a baby is not a safe way to travel.

10) Older children should be in seat belts.

11) If you own a pool keep the cover on and gates locked. Never leave children unattended at a pool.

12) If you have guns in your home keep them safely locked up and unloaded with ammunition separately locked up as well.
