collapsing antique church vent panels restoredThis is one of a series of severely dilapidated and collapsing vent panels that we restored. A previous congregation in the building had allowed the windows to deteriorate. Previous poor attempts by others to maintain and repair these windows only complicated the process of salvaging and restoring these windows.
These attempts included adding a haphazard grid of ugly and ineffective flat bars across the surface of the panel and slathering the panel with Portland cement to stiffen it without restoring it. Both of these practices have been used widely in the past with disastrous results and should always be avoided
These windows illustrate how it can be worthwhile to restore cherished and important windows that are in even the worst kind of conditions.
